Sightseeing/Shopping visits to various coastal towns & destinations :
- Mali Losinj ~ Every little town on the Croatian coast has its unique charm, and there is something about Mali Losinj that reminds me of Italy. It is cute, with many little shops, restaurants, and coffee shops all over the riviera.
- Veli Losinj ~ The Island of Losinj has a long history of being a place to heal & rejuvenate the body and spirit. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was declared an official health resort. The mild Mediterranean climate, The 256 types of algae found in the waters around Losinj, Lošinj’s natural pine forests and plants, and the particles of salt found in the air ~ all contribute to the healing of bronchial and respiratory problems.
- Osor ~ After the fall of Roman Empire, Osor became a part of Byzantine Empire and was a seat of diocese since the 6th century.
It is incredibly beautiful, with cobblestone streets and lovely sculptures found throughout the town. You can still see ancient Roman family crest emblems carved above door arches. - Apoxymenos Museum ~ A prominent work of art that is world-famous and on exhibit in Mali Losinj is the statue of Apoxyomenos, which was discovered by a diver (near Losinj) in 1996 and is cast in bronze. It was made in ancient Greece around 1st or 2nd century BC. There are 8 known Apoxyomenos statues and they all depict athletes caught in the act of scraping sweat and dust from their bodies with the small curved instrument called a strigil. The Croatian Apoxyomenos is the statue that is the most intact out of all of the found Apoxyomenos’.
- Zagreb ~ The more I travel, the more I appreciate the charm and warmth of my home town! An old city that dates back to the Middle Ages, with a rich history and an amazing positive energy.
